It Couldn’t Be Easier
Over the past year, I have visited more than 100 United Methodist Churches across the United States. In my conversations with pastors and staff, I’ve come to the conclusion that they care about scholarships. But they also care about many other things.
Churches have partner relationships with missions and ministries across the globe. They feed and clothe people in their own communities. People show up and help during personal tragedies. Every day they get requests and priorities sometimes shift to the person standing right in front of them. It’s incredible to see the depth and breadth of care and concern our churches have for others.
So while we know that not every church or every person will financially support our Ministry of Scholarships – some will. Some see the difference scholarships make in a person’s life. Some know that gifts lift up the next generation of leaders and pastoral leaders for our church. Some know that scholarships reduce reliance on loans and allow more time for students to be students. Some simply want to make an impact, big or small, with those in higher education.
“It (Gift of Hope Scholarship) also helps set me up in a positive financial situation after college. Any scholarship I receive helps me stay debt-free throughout my time in college.” Paul T
“I am indebted to a pastor and the United Methodist Church. I received help to attend a university when I didn’t think it was possible. So I made a gift to GBHEM, to repay the feeling I had when someone helped me.” Jorge R.
