A Moment for Mission

A Moment for Mission

“Let it be so, because he delivers to the needy who cry out, the poor, and those who have no helper. He has compassion on the weak and the needy; he saves lives of those who are in need.”
Psalm 72:12-13, CEB

At the mention of The United Methodist Church’s General Council on Finance and Administration, do you see dollar signs? Do you think of numbers, spreadsheets and bottom lines? Do you assume that GCFA is just in the business of church business?

Although acting as financial stewards of The United Methodist Church makes for a very full plate, GCFA’s staff is also very resourceful in helping churches at the grassroots. Serving God through the ministry of administration, they are accountable for maintaining church statistics, supporting active and retired bishops, educating church agencies about property issues, managing certification processes and planning, preparing and executing General Conference every four years.

But that’s not all. Have you heard about these GCFA-initiated services?

Through our congregation’s support of the General Administration Fund, we help the GCFA to help us.

“We can do what we do,” said Sharon Dean, GCFA director of communications, “because United Methodist churches know the value of a dollar when it comes to ministering to God’s world.”

Wealth is a gift from God. Most of us are blessed with wealth beyond our needs. Servant ministers like GCFA protect God’s investment and ours.
